3 months down!!

This is Elder Lamb's District!  It's small but really fun! They do so many fun things on their p-day! In these next few pictures they are climbing the falls.  There are so many beautiful places in this country of Honduras!

 This is Pizza and cinnamon sticks that he bought for next to nothing!  He says that the food is so cheap! thats great because he needs to gain about 30 pounds!

This is what Zach eats every morning for breakfast!  Before his mission he hated cereal! (go figure- and he's Tom's son?) so now he loves it and just to add some more flavor he adds cookies to it! YUMMY!

Another things he just loves to eat and he eats it everyday is Baleadas!! This is a pic of the sisters at the ward activity making Baleadas for everyone watching the Honduran Soccer game on TV.

So when Honduras plays in a soccer match... the whole city where he is serving just shuts down! everyone is watching the game and no one would even give the elders the time of day!  So... they decided to join the ward members and have some food and develop some relationships while they ate! The members are awesome there!

He and his companion just had to buy matching shirts! lol

So here it is!!! They found this behind there couch one night! If any of you know Zach he HATES spiders and snakes!  He took his camera and was taking video of his companion trying to put it in a jar! He said that it was the funniest thing he had ever seen! I tried to have him send me the footage to put on the blog but it wouldnt work.  This is not a mama either.  Its still growing!!!!

This is how big it was!!! This creeps me out so much!! And he is not even living in the jungle yet!!! His apartment is one of the nicest ones in the area!  He has lots to look forward to!!!So they kept it in the jar for a bit and then let it go outside.  I said to him "are you nuts?"... its just going to come back in the house!!!CRAZY!!!!!

This was such a great pic of Zach that his mission mom took.  When she was in their area she noticed the missionaries on the bus and took the photo! It was so fun to see it on Facebook!! She is such a great mission mom for all of us moms with missionaries!!!

This last post is from his email yesterday! I thought I would share a little experience that he had a few days ago. He is absolutely strengthening my testimony by sharing these experiences.  He is loving his mission and is loving the people of Honduras!  His testimony grows stronger every day and his faith in our Savior does as well.  We are so grateful to have him doing the Lord's work and he is having so much fun while doing it.  We love and miss him so much but the work that he is doing is much more important than having him home!:)

Wow, this week was so great for me! I am so glad that the family is doing well and i loved the pictures that you sent me.  I hope that you already got mine.  Conference is this weekend!!! I am so excited to see the prophet speak while i am here on a mission! The members here are great about helping the missionaries too.  This week i had a really great experience that strengthened my faith about the priesthood. Here's the story.

On Thursday we had exchanges between the missionaries in our district.  The new Elder in our district Elder Miranda came with me and i showed him around my area.  Thursday was the day that we go to the mountains to teach our investigators and less actives.  We arrived to teach the Vasquez family (less active).  There is a couple that lives with them who are non members so we are teaching them as well.  We arrived to the sound of a screaming baby and a stressed out mother.  The baby was super ill with a cough and cold and tons of mucous in the throat.  We sat down and started to talk about the baby a little bit.  I asked if she had medicine and she replied, no.  My companion said that he had some medicine at his house 35 minutes away and that her husband could come by and borrows the medicine later at night when the missionary returned to the house.  I saw that the baby needed medicine right at that moment so i suggested that we just go get the medicine right away.  We left them with a prayer and rushed down the mountain to get medicine.  About 5 minutes into our walk, i realized that we could probably just buy medicine at the pulperia or the little storage store place.  That's what we did.  We climbed the mountain and returned about 15 minutes later.  We gave the mom the medicine and then proceeded to ask if we could also give the baby a blessing.  I anointed the oil and my companion confirmed it and gave the blessing.  It was a great blessing, but something that i didn't realize until after we left was that right after the blessing, the baby didnt make another sound. She was sleeping until we left.  I talked to her mom at church on Sunday and the mom said that her baby slept through the night and into the next day.  She said that she hasn't slept like that in about 5 days. On Sunday, her baby was all better and eating completely normal. This to me was a miracle and a tender mercy from the lord.  I know that it was through the faith of the missionaries that this was able to happen, but more than that it was the willingness that the family had to reactivate themselves to the church that made this tender mercy possible.  The Lord is able to work through us easier if we do all that we can do first to help the needy and the sick.  I'm glad that i had this experience and look forward to more if it is the will of the lord.  I know that my savior Jesus Christ lives and in reality, we have a father in heaven that loves us more than we know.  He loves all his children not just the ones that are obedient.  This is one thing that i learned this week that i will cherish for the rest of my life.

Beautiful Honduras!!!

This was his first baptism.  What a cute family.  Zach looks like a giant compared to the others in the photo. He is having so much fun teaching and meeting the people.  He said that in Honduras, the people are very humble and are ready for baptism, however, the retention of the members is very low.  So Zach decided that maybe by offering an English class every week that it would bring the less actives together as they meet at the church and get to know one another and start their reactivation from there.  Well, this last week was his first lesson to teach them about the English language and 55 people came for their English class.  Amazing turn out.  I guess the mission president is now going to keep an american in that area at all times so the class can still be offered.  That is so fun for the church members to get together in that way to get to know one another.

Oh the beauty of Honduras!!!! They are able to go play soccer on the beach on their PDay!  I just cant believe how beautiful this place is! More pics below.....

He said that you get a $20 plate of Carne Asada for only $7.

So I guess its been about 5 weeks since Zach has gotten his hair cut. (he usually gets it cut every 3 weeks) This is before the gel he has to put in his hair.........

......this is AFTER the gel!! Much more appropriate for a missionary!!

This is the last picture post from Zach!!! These are his amazing boots that he bought from "Holmes Clothing"! If your not familiar with Honduran weather, well, lets just say its very wet, muddy, dusty, and humid!! He shines his shoes 2 times a week to keep them clean and well taken care of.  Thanks to "Holmes Clothing", Elder Lamb has the driest socks and driest feet ever!!!! These boots are a heaven sent! He said that an elder from his mission just got transferred to Arizona because he got a foot fungus and couldn't get rid of it for so long because he didn't have the appropriate foot wear to keep his feet dry!  Sooooo..... if any of you are headed to a wet, humid climate, go to "Holmes Clothing"  and they will take care of your feet. (The most important accessory for missionaries)!!!!!

Elder Lamb is having such a great time on his mission.  He is having many spiritual experiences that are helping him to grow and it has helped to strengthen his testimony of Jesus Christ.  His faith is unwavering and it has strengthened our testimony's to be able to read and be a part of his mission experiences through his emails and photos.  He is such a great example of service and love as he sacrifices his time for these two years to serve the Lord.  He will be blessed in more ways than we can even think of because of his willingness to serve.  We miss him and love him so much!  Knowing that he is safe and learning and growing makes us feel a peace in our home.  We are so grateful that he has the best Mission President and Mission Mom in the world!  We are so grateful for their sacrifice to lead these young men and women and they have no idea what impact and influence they will and have already had on these missionaries lives.  We love them for this!!!  Until next time..... Elder Lamb has arrived in Honduras!

Zach arrived in Honduras on Aug. 5th.  When they arrived at the airport, their mission president had one of the office staff make a video of everyone coming that night.  It was an amazing video.  They really did a great job and when I figure out how to put it on the blog then you will be able to view it as well! 

  This is the AP's home in San Pedro Sula! Not too bad huh?  They have to have a spacious home to accommodate all of the missionaries that come in to the mission.  The Elders are packed in the night they arrive and then its transfers the next day.

This is the inside of the house.  Lots of beds wall to wall for the tired new missionaries to sleep!!!

This is a picture with his companion, Elder Zavata, he is from El Salvador.  Also pictured is a sister and her kids who are in the ward and she feeds them lunch every day!!! Yes! Every day!!! What a sacrifice!!!!

So today was Elder Lamb's first P-Day in Honduras and I waited and waited and waited for that email that I thought may never come.  I finally received an email at 3:30.  I was so excited!! He is doing great!  He gets up early and studies and then did his laundry and their are a few pics that I will post of what he did on his pday.
Zach's week has been filled with great experiences!  He gave his first blessing to a lady in his ward in spanish and he said it was such a great experience.  He is meeting so many interesting people too!  He is learning the language more and more.  He said that he has 2 baptisms scheduled for this Saturday and I am so excited for him.  This branch that he goes to has 60 members and is in a church building similar to ours in the states.  He loves the people!! What a great experience he is having and I love sharing it with all of his friends and family! Here are a few pictures from his P-Day from today!!

We sure love Zach!  He is doing what the Lord has asked him to do! He is sacrificing 2 years of his life to preach the Gospel to the people of Honduras and we are so happy that he will be able to bring people unto Christ.  He is a great example to his siblings and we will be forever grateful for that! We miss him!
